UPSC Age Calculator

Your UPSC age & eligibility on the cut-off date, with relaxations.

In short

UPSC eligibility depends on your age as on the cut-off date — usually 1 August — measured to the day. Enter your date of birth, exam and category and this calculator returns your exact age and whether you fall inside the limit (21–32 for Civil Services) after category relaxations.

UPSC Eligibility

Age as on 1 August

Quick set:

UPSC age limit & eligibility

The UPSC age calculator works out your exact age as on the cut-off date set in the notification — for the Civil Services Examination this is usually 1 August of the exam year — and tells you whether you meet the age limit for your category. Pick your exam, your reservation category, and it applies the standard upper-age relaxations automatically.

For the Civil Services Examination the General/EWS age window is 21 to 32 years. Relaxations extend the upper limit: +3 years for OBC (non-creamy layer), +5 for SC/ST, and +10/+13/+15 for PwBD candidates. Other UPSC exams — Engineering Services, CDS and the Forest Service — have their own limits, selectable above.

Note on attempts: UPSC also limits the number of attempts (which vary by category). This tool checks age only — always read the official notification for attempt limits and any special relaxations.

How eligibility is decided

You must have reached the minimum age and not crossed the maximum (base limit plus relaxation) on the cut-off date, measured exactly to the day. The calculator shows your precise age, the effective age band for your category, and a clear eligible / not-eligible result.
